A shelf rating is only useful when the span, depth, bracket, steel thickness, load pattern, and deflection limit match the ordered configuration. CZD's 4-post retail reference is 70 kg per shelf, while warehouse pallet and platform systems use different load units and must be specified separately.

A retail shelf capacity number is not a universal property of every shelf in a product family. Span, depth, bracket geometry, steel thickness, reinforcement, upright stability, load distribution, and allowable deflection all change the result. A buyer should approve the exact configuration that will carry the heaviest merchandise, not copy a number from a different bay.
CZD's 4-post retail reference lists Q235B cold-rolled steel, five levels, 900/1200 mm lengths, 365 mm single-sided width, 700 mm double-sided width, and a 70 kg capacity reference. That is a useful starting point for an RFQ; the final drawing and test condition must match the project.
Define The Real Load Pattern
Describe whether the shelf carries uniformly distributed packs, concentrated cases, beverage trays, pet food, hooks, or a promotional fixture. Tell the supplier the heaviest SKU, case dimensions, shelf position, replenishment method, and whether staff may temporarily stack cartons during delivery. A 70 kg uniformly distributed reference cannot automatically be applied to a concentrated case stack.

Approve The Complete Geometry
Request a drawing that states clear span, shelf depth, front lip, reinforcement, bracket type, upright slot pitch, back panel, base connection, and installation method. The same 900 or 1200 mm nominal length can perform differently when the bracket, depth, or stiffener changes. Record the usable merchandising dimension as well as the outside dimension.

Ask For Deflection And Stability Evidence
A useful test record shows load placement, increments, hold time, measured deflection, permanent set after unloading, connections, and floor or anchoring conditions. Tall runs and heavily loaded lower shelves also need stability review across uprights, feet, back panels, and the floor. Follow local accessibility, anchoring, and public-area requirements.
Keep The Approved Rating In The Store
Store the drawing, test result, component code, approved bracket, and load condition with the installation and operations teams. Do not mix shelves, brackets, or uprights from another family without review. Mark or communicate the approved load where staff replenish products, and replace damaged structural parts instead of improvising repairs.
Use A Sample Bay With Real Products
Load a sample bay with the heaviest and most concentrated products. Check facings, deflection, bracket fit, stability, customer reach, replenishment, ticket visibility, and installation time.
